There has been a lot of content coming on ZEE5 recently. A Telugu rom-com titled Aha Na Pellanta arrived today on the OTT platform. It stars Raj Tharun and Shivaani Rajasekhar in the lead roles. The show gained a good buzz with its promotional content. Let’s see how the series is.

Story:

Seenu (Raj Tharun), during his childhood, proposes to his school mate which shocks his parents. He vows to his parents, No Ball Narayana (Harshavardhan) and Susheela (Aamani), that he wouldn’t go after any girl till his marriage. Years later, Seenu’s marriage gets fixed. However, while everything is going smoothly, the bride elopes, which causes humiliation to Seenu in his city. Seenu leaves for Hyderabad since he gets a job in a cricket academy. This is when Mahendra (Posani Krisha Murali), the bride’s father, reveals to Seenu why his daughter eloped. What did Seenu do then? Who is Maha (Shivaani)? How did she enter Seenu’s life? How did Seenu’s life change? Watch the show to know the answers.

Plus Points:

Raj Tharun as a cool youngster, gave a good performance in Aha Na Pellanta. He portrayed the pain inside his character very beautifully. Not just in the emotional sequences, but the actor was also good at the comic sequences. Shivaani steals the show with her captivating performance. The actress’s role is smartly written. As an inquisitive and brilliant girl, she did very well and added value to the series. The actress surely has a long way to go.

The chemistry between the lead pair is good and refreshing. The show takes off nicely from the mid portion and engages with the fun parts. The comedy generated through the likes of Get Srinu and Thaagubothu Ramesh was decent. Ravi Siva Teja and Trishool, who played the friends of Raj Tharun, entertain with their mannerisms and amp up the comedy quotient.

Harsha Vardhan’s initial scenes evoke good laughs. Other artists like Posani Krishna Murali, Aamani, and Rajkumar Kasireddy are good in their respective roles. Few episodes are short, which becomes an advantage to the series. The show mostly runs on a light-hearted note which is pleasant to watch.

Minus Points:

The establishment of the show is not done well. The manner in which the show runs initially isn’t engaging and, at the same time, feels a bit dragged. The slow pacing here bores one. The series’ plot is formulaic and thus runs on a predictable note. Hence those who expect more from the story might be disappointed. The songs also don’t add much significance.

It is only from the mid portions the show gains momentum. It would have been even better if the initial episodes had been executed better. The ending episode could have been handled well, as a few over-the-top scenes let downs the emotional angle present. The flow of the series at places becomes problematic. Harsha Vardhan’s character had more scope but was sidelined after a point.

Technical Aspects:

The music by Judah Sandhy is fine. The cinematography is neat, and the visuals look cool, bringing a good feel to the series. The editing, for the most part, is fine. The production values are rich, and the makers spent nicely on the web show.

Coming to director Sanjeev Reddy, he did a decent job with the series. His treatment regarding the entertainment aspect is good, but more care regarding the story would have enhanced the series range further. But Sanjeev was good at extracting performances from the lead cast.

Verdict:

On the whole, Aha Na Pellanta is a decent rom-com series that has great performances from the lead cast. The routine plot and a few sequences turn out to be boring, but the makers make it up with the entertainment quotient making the series a watchable affair this weekend.
