Story:
School student Rishitha (Anusha Nuthula) is murdered, and private detective Sandhya (Shruthi Mol) plunges into action to solve the mystery behind her murder. In the process, she goes missing, and her lover Karthik (Rajath Raghav) steps in to find her. Who is Karthik? What happened to Sandhya? Who killed Rishitha? The film will unfold the mysteries.
Plus Points:
This crime investigative thriller has a decent story that attracts the audience. Writer and director Venkat Narendra deserves appreciation for coming up with such a good point that many youngsters are facing in this digital age.
Rajath Raghav, who recently appeared in Maya Petika, delivers his best performance, and if he continues to choose engaging stories, he is bound to gain fame in T-town soon.
The supporting actors perform well in their respective roles, and the background score adds to the intrigue factor.
Minus Points:
While this crime investigative thriller has a nice premise, a more gripping narration would have made it even more intriguing and less predictable. The slow pacing at times and the inclusion of unnecessary scenes hinder the film’s impact.
The main problem lies in the simple climax, where a stronger motive for the accused’s crimes is expected. The reason provided lacks conviction and seems rather silly.
Regarding appearances, Goldie Nissy, who played Pallavi, does a fine job, but her love story feels like a hurdle to the overall flow. Moreover, she has not much scope to showcase her acting skills during the investigation. The makers should have cast someone else for the antagonist’s role.
The director missed an opportunity to cast familiar faces and improve the movie’s reach to more audiences. Additionally, some actors struggled to emote the right expressions.
Technical Aspects:
Venkat Narendra handles the film well, but a more gripping narration could have altered the movie’s fate. If the director plans to make a sequel, focusing on a compelling story with an arresting screenplay would be beneficial.
The score by Marcus M is decent, and Siddam Naresh’s cinematography adds to the film’s appeal. Despite being a small budget movie, the production values are satisfactory. However, trimming some unnecessary scenes in the second half would have made the film crisper.
Verdict:
On the whole, the crime investigation thriller, Detective Karthik, has an okay but predictable story that lacks proper narration. Apart from Rajath Raghav’s performance, the other actors are somewhat overshadowed. The slow second half, filled with some unnecessary scenes, is a big letdown. You can skip this film.
