Versatile actor Sai Kumar, Tarakaratna and Prince starrer S5-No Exit has hit the screens today. Let’s see how the movie is.
Story:
Subbu (Tarakaratna) is the son of CM Subrahmanyam Naidu (Sai Kumar), who goes to any extent to save his father’s political career. CM books an entire coach on a special train to let his son enjoy his birthday. Sunny (Prince) and his friends enter the coach by mistake. Shockingly, people go missing in the closed coach that has no exit. Why are they missing? Who is behind their missing? Is there a ghost inside the train? What did the remaining people do? The main movie has all the answers.
Plus Points:
Senior and talented actor Sai Kumar portrayed the CM role very well. Though his character is small compared to the others, he nailed it. The next character that needs to be mentioned is Subbu, played by Tarakaratna. He fit well in the role of an arrogant and fearless man, who loves his father to the core. Prince also got a decent role to perform and he justified his role.
Some of the comedy scenes worked out well and they evoke laughs in the serious going story. The director injected them well into the story to entertain audiences. The music created a tense atmosphere in a few scenes to thrill viewers.
Minus Points:
Director Sunny Komalapati takes a regular point and tried to narrate it thrillingly but ended up a failure. The narration is impressive for the first few minutes and derails once the poor comedy scenes began.
When you have comedians like Ali and Sunil, you can write neat comedy scenes to evoke laughs. But the director failed to use the their potential to the fullest. Also, some of the scenes are truly illogical. When a person goes missing mysteriously in a closed coach, the remaining people would feel tension for sure. But, here in the film, the remaining characters drink, dance and do nothing to save the missing persons.
Sunny would have written a better screenplay to make the story more thrilling. Unfortunately, he failed to execute the mediocre story in a better way. The dialogues by Kalyan Chakravarthi are pretty average. The main thing to discuss is the VFX used in the film. The graphical content is of poor quality and the team could have done a better job in this aspect.
Some of the characters and their performances are over the top. The director, who also acted in the film, is not an exception. He could have concentrated more on the story to make S5-No Exit a better thriller.
Technical Aspects:
The director should have come up with an engaging screenplay at least to turn the mediocre story into an enjoyable one. However, he failed in almost all aspects. Over-the-top performances are a big letdown for the flick. Music by Manisharma and cinematography by Garuda Anji are pretty normal. Productional values are poor. Trimming off a few unnecessary comedy scenes could have made the movie better.
Verdict:
On the whole, S5-No Exit is an unimpressive thriller because of its poor content and over-the-top performances. Some comedy scenes are okay to enjoy but the rest of the film has nothing to engage audiences. You can skip it and look for something else this weekend.
