Story:
Kittu(Harishith) is a bright student but his interest lies with cooking. He explores a new facet of life after Jasmine (Payal) comes along as he falls in love with her. But a fateful incident alters the course of their relationship. What is the incident? Can the teenagers sort out the issue?
Plus Points:
The casting for the series is bang on point. The lead actors Harishith, Payal, Nikhil, and others deliver fine performances. The way they portray these teenage characters is good.
The series revolves around teenage romance and is set in rural backdrop and that gives it a fresh appeal. The dialogues are witty and quirky, although they carry too much of a cinematic feel at times. A fair few of the comedy scenes evoke laughter.
Minus Points:
The main conflict point that causes the rift between the lead pair is not potent enough. Consequently, the subsequent drama-oriented scenes end up being underwhelming.
The final two episodes progress on a very predictable note and the ending isn’t all that impressive either. The last dialogue implies that there is a second season to follow but there isn’t much build-up to it.
Technical Aspects:
The director Mallik Ram picks teenage romance subject and narrates it without much deviation. He is ably supported by the music composer who comes up with a soulful background score. Cinematography is adequate.
Verdict:
Thatgathi Gadhi is a teenage romance and it banks on comedy and at times, intense emotions. The series is a mixed bag as it has its own share of bright moments and flaws – predictable narrative and bland ending. It might make for an okayish one-time watch if you keep your expectations in check.
