Published on Aug 14, 2020 10:00 pm IST

Kaumudi Nemani is a talented person, who does multiple things in the industry. She is a professional singer, actor, anchor and now she is gearing up for a big change. We spoke to her for an exclusive interview where she opened up about her life and career. Here is the transcript.

Tell us about your background?

I was born and brought up in Vijayanagaram and was there until my 7th grade. Both my parents were working and as my mother was transferred to Hyderabad, we all moved here. I did my graduation in Villa Mary college and also did my Mass Com here. Since then, I have been in the industry in various aspects.

Did you always want to become a singer?

I had this inclination to sing always as my parents loved listening to songs. I learned singing from a very young age and participated in several competitions. I tried hard but I could not make it big in singing. I always sang in the background and not making big as a singer always hurts me as that was my parents’ biggest dream in life and hopefully one day I will achieve it.

What are you up to these days?

I have always been aspiring to become a producer and very soon, I am going to turn one. I will work as an executive producer for noted banner and will produce content for films, OTT, and web.

We knew you as an actor and singer. Where did this producer come up from?

I always wanted to become a producer as I have the capability to manage things quite effectively. I have had good training when I worked with Raghavendra Rao Garu, Supriya Mam, Charmee garu, and now Sushmita Konidela. Seeing these dynamic ladies, I am also getting to production.

How did you get into acting?

TV 9 Swanpna with whom I performed in a singing show set me up with my first job with Raghavendra Rao Garu. I was called by him to work as an anchor for SVBC TV, but when he saw me and my profile, he made a program producer. Then I got an offer as n anchor and when I was shooting for my show Kalyan Krishna and Nagarjuna Garu spotted me and rope me in for Rarandoi Veduka CHuddam.

How was it working with an actor like Mahesh Babu?

I am very lucky as in the very few films I did, I acted in two projects with Mahesh sir. More than the working experience, the time I spent with him on the sets is a life-changing experience. Not many know that Mahesh sir has a terrific comic timing in real life as well. The manner in which he pulls off these one-liners on you is superb. Also, after Sarileru, at a party, Mahesh Sir came up to me and said you are lucky for me as two of my films with you are hits. I mean who does that in real life and that made me a bigger fan of him.

How did you family accept your entry into films?

Right from my childhood, I was brought up with a joint family. So, naturally, there was a rejection when I told that I would enter films. I saw a lot of rejection in many aspects during my growing days but I started fighting with it and made it a hard way. I feel happy that I am in a very good place right now in my career.

Who in the industry has supported you in your journey?

BVS Ravi sir has been quite helpful throughout. I worked with him in Jawan and since then, he always takes care of me. Trust me, I have had a smooth flow in the industry and have met good people. In the due course of time, I also met Padmaja garu, the producer in RK films, and learned a lot from her. I am a person who stays away from negative people if I come across one, I keep away. Every day is a learning experience.

How are you planning your career?

As of now, I have a big dream to become a producer and make good films. Marriage is also on cards and that will happen in the next two years. Post marriage too, I have some good plans and would love to teach. I am taking things one day as it comes as I have seen so much already and learned a lot from it.

With that, we ended our interview with Kaumudi and wished her the best of luck for her future.
