Angry Star Rajashekar-starrer Shekar is up for a release on May 20, 2022. On this occasion, we met with the movie’s director Jeevitha Rajashekar for a brief interview. Here is the transcript.

What drives you to direct Shekar?

To be honest, I didn’t want to direct this film and it’s not my cup of tea also. After deciding to remake the film in Telugu, we wanted not to change the storyline according to our nativity. But, the directors we approached come up with different ideas, which we didn’t like at all. So, finally, I donned the director hat for this flick.

Tell us about Shekar?

Shekar is a story of an ordinary constable who has a scar in his life, like every one of us. He became alone and at some point in his life, the distressed person decided to fight for something. What’s the problem and how he came up with a solution is the story people need be known in the main film. The movie also has a message. I believe that people who are good at heart will connect to Shekar for sure.

Did you make any changes to the story?

When I watched the original film, Joseph, I found a few flaws. I can’t say them exactly as flaws. I felt that to make the film better in Telugu, changes have to be made for sure. The core point is the same but a few scenes are changed. Everyone will be awed for sure.

Working experience with Rajashekar?

He is a director’s actor. He gives exactly what the director expects from him. But, he never likes to comprise when he doesn’t like the script. For Shekar also, he gives his best and you will see his emotional performance on screen.

Why did Shekar postpone multiple times?

Every time we decided to release Shekar, a big film is also scheduled for a grand release in the same week and it will get a majority of theaters for sure. Finally, we fixed to release our movie on May 20, after the release of Sarkaru Vaari Paata. We think that the movie will run well at the ticket windows.

What’s your opinion on the ticket prices hike?

Ticket prices hike depends on movies. For instance, RRR makers approached the government as they poured in crores of amount in making the magnum opus. So, it’s okay to increase the prices for such larger than life films. Coming to Shekar, we are not going to hike the prices and audiences can watch it for regular prices.

Any plans to act in movie?

I am always ready to appear on the screen. But, I wanted to be a part of a good movie irrespective of my character. I also love to act with my husband Rajashekar. I Hope, it will happen soon.
