Naga Chaitanya is all over the news these days. His new film, Premam is releasing this Friday and on this occasion, we caught up with him for a detailed interview. Let’s see what he has to say.
The buzz for the film is huge. How excited are you ?
Yes ! the film has caught on quite well with everyone. But it was not the case when the film started as no one took it seriously. But with time the buzz has grown tremendously and I am very happy about it.
How different is your film from the original ?
Look, we have just made the film with an honest approach. We never had an intention of bettering the original. We only made the film according to our style and set it nicely in Telugu nativity.
Were any of the three love stories changed from the original ?
Yes ! the love story featuring me and Madonna Sabastian has been changed and made keeping today’s youth in mind.
Whose decision was it to remake the Premam ?
It was my decision to remake the film. Chandoo wanted to direct a straight film but I asked him to make Premam instead. I will surely work on a straight film with him in the near future.
When will you do a hardcore action film ?
Frankly, I love doing action films. I feel that I need to evolve more as an actor and develop a personality and capability to carry of such roles.
What kind of inspiration did you draw from Nivin Pauly’s role in Premam ?
I loved his attitude in the film and got very inspired by it. I did my bit and hope that audience will love my role.
How did your dad react after knowing your affair with Samantha ?
I personally told my dad first. Once I told him, he laughed out loud and said ” Naku Munde Telusuleraa” This broke the ice and everything went perfectly fine.
What was your reaction when you knew about Akhil’s love story ?
This came as a huge surprise for me. I never knew that something like this was going on. Both me and my dad felt happy for my kid brother.
So when are the weddings going to happen ?
Everything will be planned next year. But Akhil will get married before me.
