Hero Rajasekhar is back after a brief hiatus with his latest presentation Gaddam Gang. On the eve of the film’s release, we caught up with him for a brief interview. Let’s see what he has to say.
Q) What is Gaddam Gang all about ?
A) Gaddam Gang is a quirky story based on a group of kidnappers. I play the lead role and since everyone in the group has beards, we titled the movie Gaddam Gang.
Q) Reports suggest that you have spent a bomb on the remake rights of this film?
A) Yes ! I paid one crore for the rights. As I did not have much success from the past five years, I decided to do something new, and in this process wanted to remake the Tamil hit film Soodu Kavvum.
Q) Did you make any changes to the remake ?
A) No ! we haven’t made any changes to the remake. We just added a few punch dialogues here and there to suit Telugu nativity?
Q) Generally, your wife Jeevitha directs your films. Why did she back out of this project ?
A) Initially, I wanted her to direct this film. But as she was looking after the production formalities, she decided that Santosh Peter was a good choice. He has done a great job and the movie has come out really well.
Q) What was the idea behind dubbing in your own voice ?
A) Laughs ! I have only dubbed for the trailer as Sai Kumar was not available at that time.
Q) What are the highlights of this movie ?
A) Achu’s music and recording of the film will be a major highlight. I am playing an unconventional character for the first time and I hope that the audience will like me in a new role.
Q) There are several reports that you are acting in Chiranjeevi’s 150th film ?
A) All these are rumors. No one has ever approached me for a role. But if there is something interesting, and if Chiranjeevi himself offers me a role, I don’t mind doing it.
Q) Will you ever do character roles and mature characters ?
A) Yes ! I am very much ready to do such roles and have a couple of interesting offers in hand. But I want to give a good hit before transforming myself into doing mature characters.
Q) What are your future projects ?
A) RGV’s Patta Pagalu is ready for release, and I have two more films Vandaku Vanda and Arjuna in ending stages.
