Surender Reddy is an out and out commercial director who has his own style of making films. His films like Athanokkade, Kick, and Race Gurram were huge hits at box office. Now, his latest film Dhruva with Mega power star Ram Charan is all set to release this Friday. On this occasion, we caught up with Surender Reddy for an interview. Here is the transcript.
Q) Any special reasons for choosing a remake film ?
Doing a remake was not my idea. I was supposed to do a straight film with Ram Charan. In the meantime, Charan watched Thani Oruvan and asked me to direct it. Initially, I was a bit tensed but later I accepted it.
Q) Your experience of doing a film which is already a blockbuster in another language ?
Attempting a remake film is not that easy. I really worked hard for this movie and at the same time, enjoyed the entire making process. I even told to Charan that I will never do a remake again as it is quite tough.
Q) What were the changes made to the remake ?
I made some minor changes in the script but the original content and feel of the original is the same.
Q) Working experience with Ram Charan ?
Ram Charan is a very honest person. He really worked hard for sporting a six pack. His dedication on sets used to give energy to the entire unit members.
Q) Is it true that Arvind swami was not interested in doing this film ?
No ! I approached him and told him about the remake plans. I told him the changes that will be made and after hearing them, he immediately accepted to do the film.
Q) Was there any risk in picking Hip-hop Tamizha as the music composer ?
No, I never felt it as a risk. His work in Thani Oruvan was so impressive that without any second thought, we went with him.
Q) What is Your feeling after watching the complete movie?
I am very happy with the output and am confident that audience will also like this film for sure.
Q) What are your future projects?
I will be directing a movie for Chiranjeevi garu in the future. As of now, I am eagerly waiting for Dhruva release.
