Young actor Santosh Soban’s next theatrical release is Anni Manchi Sakunamule, helmed by Nandhini Reddy. Malvika Nair is playing the leading lady. Micky J Meyer composed the tunes. This family entertainer has an ensemble cast of Sowcar Janaki, Rajendra Prasad, Gauthami, Rao Ramesh, Naresh, Vennela Kishore, Vasuki, Ramya Subramanian, and Anju Alvika Naik in vital roles. Priyanka Dutt produced the movie under Swapna Cinema and Mithra Vindha Movies. Ahead of the release on 18th May, we had a brief interaction with Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt, and here is the transcript.
On one side, you are producing Project K. What made you produce a small film like Anni Manchi Sakunamule?
It doesn’t matter whether it is a big or small film. If we feel we want to tell a particular story, we will go ahead with it. Definitely, Project K is a huge film, but to be frank, we won’t have differences between big-budget and small-budget films. We started with Yevade Subramanyam, which was a turning point for us. We don’t like to produce three to four films at a time. We want to support our directors.
What are the exciting elements in Anni Manchi Sakunamule?
This film has no twists and turns. Also, it is devoid of any commercial elements. How would someone feel when he/she visits their grandmother’s house in the Summer season? Anni Manchi Sakunamule would give that kind of feeling. We shot the whole film in the hill station Kunoor.
Whose decision was it regarding the casting for Anni Manchi Sakunamule?
We both, along with Nandhini Reddy, will take the decision regarding casting. We take a lot of care regarding casting. A few times, we take the suggestions of our father. For Sita Ramam, our dad gave us key suggestions. We feel that we imparted a few qualities from our father.
This is the recent film in which many prominent actors are part of. Will the film be a visual treat?
No actor has been cast just for the sake of having him/her. Every character has been brought in for a reason. This is not a hero-heroine film. Anni Manchi Sakunamule’s story happens between two families.
How significant is Nag Ashwin to your films and banner?
He adds so much value to our banner. He is the reason why we are here. Whenever we need him, he has always been there for us. Also, Nag Ashwin doesn’t get involved in any other director’s work. Neither do we ask him to. Here we are building one eco-system where we are all there for each other, and that’s how the industry should be.
Santosh Soban’s track record isn’t that great. What made you believe in him?
This film will change the fortune of Santosh Soban. Santosh is a very good actor, and he will give his best. But, a few times, he reminds us of Nani too. The audience will have an immense liking for Santosh Soban after Anni Manchi Sakunamule’s release.
