Ala Vaikunthapuramlo is ready for a release and on this occasion, we caught up with star director Trivikram for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.
What was the take away from Aravinda Sametha?
After the flop of Agnyaathavaasi, everyone near me felt that I should go back to my strength of comedy and family drama. I chose not to and selected a serious story. I wanted to challenge myself and come out of my comfort zone and that is how I made the film and it was a success.
The audience comes to see your kind of films to the theaters. What will happen if you change your mind?
There is nothing wrong in coming out of your comfort zone once in a while and challenge yourself. One should work on different genres and prove that he is capable of doing everything.
Was it pre-planned to promote the songs in a special manner?
Yes, we wanted to promote the songs in a special manner. We knew that the songs would be good and how to take it forward and we worked extensively into the audience who are very busy. So, we made special plans and we are happy with the response.
What kind of effect will Ala Vaikunthapuramlo give to the audience?
I feel that the audience will be elated after watching the film. There will be a sense of satisfaction once the audience comes out of the theaters. It is a light-hearted entertainer which will please everyone.
How come all your dialogues are so special in all your films?
I don’t believe in going to special places to write dialogues and stories. I don’t have a special intention to special online and they come out by chance. I write all my dialogues in my wife amidst my family members and kids.
Why all your films have small-time family problems. Why didn’t you deal with big social issues?
Everything is there for the readers to see in the newspapers. I feel that everything happens in our home. There is a satisfaction when you return home after your work and outings. The problems also occur in our household things and that is where I write my stories.
About the Sankranti competition?
I feel that both the trailers are quite different and have their own soul. They do not have anything in common and will both run at the box office. I feel that the audience will watch both films as it is the holiday season.
About Allu Arjun’s career?
Allu Arjun has transformed a lot in the last few years. He is much more dedicated and focused on his career. Once he starts a film, he sleeps, eats and thinks about the movie all the time. That is the reason I have worked thrice with him.
Why didn’t you make a pan-India film?
To be frank, I have not come across a story or idea that suits the pan-India level. The moment I will get such a thought, I will make my Hindi debut for sure.
