Bollywood star Aamir Khan is busy promoting his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par. The sports comedy-drama is set to release in theatres on June 20, 2025. In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, Aamir disclosed that he almost collaborated on a film with the legendary Mani Ratnam.

Aamir shared that he has long admired Mani Ratnam and had always hoped to collaborate with him. “We have met several times, even visited each other’s homes, and had some great conversations. We were eager to work together and nearly did a project titled Lajjo. However, it didn’t materialize due to reasons unrelated to either of us,” revealed Aamir Khan.

The Dangal actor stated that Lajjo was planned as an adaptation of Ismat Chughtai’s iconic Urdu short story Gharwali (The Housewife), with the film focusing on the story’s central character, Lajjo. Will the two of these most celebrated names in Indian cinema ever collaborate? Only time will tell us that.
