A 37-year-old Rajinikanth film is finally set to hit the big screen. Shot in 1989, Hum Mein Shaahenshah Koun features the Superstar alongside Shatrughan Sinha and Hema Malini and is now gearing up for its long-awaited theatrical release.
Produced by Raja Roy, brother of actress Reena Roy, the Hindi film was completed decades ago but never made it to theatres after the producer moved to London. Over the years, several personal setbacks, including the demise of his son and the passing of director Harmesh Malhotra, pushed the project into the background.
The film has now been restored and completed using modern technology to enhance visuals and sound, while carefully preserving the original performances and narrative. Associate producers Shabana and Aslam Mirza played a crucial role in reviving and finishing the long-pending project.
With all legal formalities already completed, Hum Mein Shaahenshah Koun is finally ready for release in April 2026, making it a rare cinematic moment marked by its vintage star cast and extraordinary journey to the big screen.
