Ajith’s Pattudala is a non-starter in Telugu states

Ajith’s latest outing, Vidaamuyarchi, hit the screens yesterday. The action thriller directed by Magizh Thirumeni of Thadam fame opened to mixed reviews. While Ajith was praised for his performance, critics opined that the second half was tedious with a bland narration. In Tamil Nadu, the film opened to solid numbers due to Ajith’s star power.

However, the same is not the case with Telugu states, where the film is a non-starter. The makers haven’t made any efforts to promote the Telugu version, and on top of that, the movie received negative reviews from Telugu media. Ajith doesn’t have a stable market here, and due to all these factors, Pattudala took a sluggish start at the Tollywood box office, reporting poor occupancies all over.

Pattudala will likely be a washout from today since Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s hyped project Thandel is releasing today. Ajith is undoubtedly a massive star in Kollywood, but the kind of films he has been making lately are not helping him increase his Telugu market. Now, all eyes are on Good Bad Ugly, produced by Mythri Movie Makers and directed by Adhik Ravichandran. We need to see if the gangster action drama can provide any relief for Ajith in Telugu.
