Recently the performance of Bollywood films has been disappointing. Only big-scale films are able to draw audiences to the theatres, which mid-range films are finding difficult. Poor content is the main reason behind this. Recently Katrina Kaif’s Phone Bhoot and Janhvi Kapoor’s Mili failed to get the openings and ended up as failures.
Amitabh Bachchan starrer Uunchai, which was released yesterday, fared better than these recent releases and minted 1.8 crores Nett on its opening day. Surprisingly, the movie has been released in limited screens and locations, yet it comfortably crossed all the recent films. Word of mouth and reviews are also encouraging, and hence the trend will be better in the coming days.
This again proves that no matter what the budget is, if the film has good content, it will always find its audience. The film also stars Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta, Danny Denzongpa, and Sarika in crucial roles. Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, the film is produced by Rajshri Productions, Boundless Media, and Mahaveer Jain Films.
