For months, reports about a biopic on legendary Carnatic singer MS Subbulakshmi garu have been doing the rounds on social media. While the project generated considerable buzz, the makers remained tight-lipped, leaving fans guessing about its status.
Earlier, the names of Sai Pallavi and Rukmini Vasanth were linked to the film, which is set to be directed by Jersey fame Gowtam Tinnanuri. However, a significant update has now emerged from sources close to the project.
Sources reveal that Rashmika Mandanna has been chosen to portray the iconic singer in the highly anticipated biographical drama. It is also learnt that a look test was recently conducted at Rashmika’s residence, with renowned costume designer Neeraja Kona reportedly creating custom outfits specifically for the session.
The project is said to be progressing steadily in the pre-production stage, away from the public eye. An official announcement is expected in the coming weeks. Adding to the excitement, music composer Anirudh Ravichander is likely to reunite with Gowtam Tinnanuri after their successful collaboration, making this one of the most eagerly awaited projects in development.
