The third installment of the Drishyam franchise, headlined by Mohanlal, received mixed reviews from critics, but that did not stop the film from taking an extraordinary opening at the box office.
According to trade reports, the movie earned around Rs. 43 crores gross on day one globally, emerging as the second biggest opener for a Malayalam film after L2: Empuraan, which was also led by Mohanlal.
The film is off to a superb start in Kerala with nearly Rs. 11 crores gross, while the overseas numbers are sensational at around Rs. 25 crores gross. It remains to be seen how the movie fares from hereon, given the mixed word of mouth. Jeethu Joseph directed this crime thriller.
