Ajith’s iconic gangster action drama, Mankatha, directed by Venkat Prabhu, was recently re-released in theatres. The re-issue turned out to be highly successful, with fans celebrating Ajith’s badass avatar and audiences turning up in huge numbers.
According to trade reports, Mankatha has earned nearly Rs. 15 crores gross in Tamil Nadu so far. After Republic Day, the film slowed down at the Tamil Nadu box office, but nonetheless, it stands as the second-highest grosser among re-releases, trailing only Thalapathy Vijay’s Ghilli. The film stars Trisha as the female lead.
Arjun Sarja, Lakshmi Rai, Anjali, Andrea Jeremiah, Ashwin Kakumanu, Vaibhav Reddy, Premji Amaren, Mahat Raghavendra, and others played key supporting roles. The film was produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri and Vivek Rathnavel under the banner of Cloud Nine Movies. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music.
