King Nagarjuna’s evergreen romantic classic Geethanjali is all set to return to theatres in a completely restored 4K version. The iconic film, directed by the legendary Mani Ratnam, will have a worldwide theatrical re-release on August 28, coinciding with Nagarjuna’s birthday and the festive occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

The film will be released in both Telugu and Tamil. Shree Padmini Cinemas, led by Boorle Shiva Prasad, is bringing the beloved classic back to the big screen with advanced technological enhancements. Considered one of the most memorable romantic films in Indian cinema, Geethanjali continues to be cherished for its emotional depth, beautiful visuals, and Ilaiyaraaja’s timeless music.

Nagarjuna’s charismatic yet vulnerable portrayal, along with Girija’s performance, struck a strong emotional chord with audiences. Mani Ratnam’s distinctive visual treatment further elevated the film and helped it remain relevant with audiences even decades after its original release.

The 4K restoration has been undertaken to offer the film a contemporary theatrical experience, with improved picture quality, richer colours, and enhanced sound. The re-release promises to take longtime fans on a nostalgic journey while introducing a new generation of moviegoers to the magic of this timeless classic on the big screens.
