We had earlier reported about the possibility of Parasakthi’s release being preponed from January 14 to January 10. Now, the makers of the Sivakarthikeyan starrer have officially announced the new release date as January 10, 2026.
It has been stated that the change in the release date was made after extensive discussions and repeated requests from exhibitors and distributors across the globe. Thalapathy Vijay’s last film, Jana Nayagan, is scheduled for a January 9, 2026, release, and due to the preponement of Parasakthi, Vijay’s film is likely to take a hit.
With a January 14 release, Jana Nayagan would have enjoyed an uninterrupted first weekend run. However, with Parasakthi arriving just a day after Jana Nayagan, theatres are expected to be split, and the impact could be significant for the Vijay starrer. Fan wars have already started brewing on social media following the announcement, and it remains to be seen how this clash will eventually play out.
Directed by Sudha Kongara, Parasakthi is set against the backdrop of the anti-Hindi imposition movement that happened in Tamil Nadu in the 1960s. Sreeleela plays the female lead. Ravi Mohan plays the antagonist. Parasakthi also stars Rana Daggubati, Atharvaa, Basil Joseph, and others in key roles. Aakash Baskaran is producing this flick under Dawn Pictures, and G.V. Prakash Kumar is composing the tunes.
