Dhanush is celebrating his birthday today, and the makers of OM are set to unveil the film’s first single. However, the spotlight has also shifted to the film’s release date after the previously announced October 16, 2026 release was omitted from the latest promotional posters.
The omission has fueled speculation about a possible postponement. OM is currently slated to clash with Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 on October 16, 2026, and industry reports suggest the makers are exploring an alternative release window to avoid the high-profile box-office face-off.
According to the latest buzz, the delay isn’t just about finding a new date. Reports claim the film’s post-theatrical streaming agreement with Netflix was structured around the original October 16 release, meaning any change could require both parties to revisit the existing deal.
Industry circles further suggest that Dhanush and members of the team are likely to hold discussions with Netflix officials in Mumbai to renegotiate the release and streaming timeline. If the talks prove successful, the makers are reportedly considering a Diwali 2026 release. If not, OM could stick to its original release date and take on Jailer 2 at the box office.
