Sanjay Leela Bhansali is currently working on Love & War, a romantic war action drama that stars Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. The project has been in the making for a significant time, with multiple shoot delays. According to the latest report in Variety India, the shooting schedules of Love & War have extended once again by an additional 50 days, escalating the budget to over a mammoth Rs. 400 crores.
Three songs and a major sequence are yet to be shot, and the unit has already completed 175 days of shooting as per the update. The report mentioned, “Bhansali strives for perfection and is not satisfied until every single frame matches his vision. But the repeated production extensions have ballooned the budget. Originally planned at Rs. 350 crore, the cost has now climbed to Rs. 425 crore, making it the most expensive Bhansali project to date.”
A major chunk of investment is said to be made by Bhansali himself, and the actors have agreed to take a share in the theatrical revenues instead of an upfront payment. The film has reportedly fetched over Rs. 200 crores from non-theatrical deals. Love & War is currently targeting an early 2027 theatrical release.
