Karthi’s costliest film to date, Sardar 2, opened in cinemas today. The spy action thriller opened mostly to negative reviews from critics, who felt that the movie lacks the finesse and quality of the first part.

Even more shocking thing is that the movie began on a poor note at the box office. Several shows of Sardar 2 were cancelled in many multiplexes across the Telugu states due to poor occupancy. A sequel featuring noted stars failing to bring in the bare minimum audience is definitely concerning.

Given the initial reports, it appears that Sardar 2 will find it extremely challenging to leave an impact at the ticket windows. Directed by PS Mithran, the movie features Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, and SJ Suryah in key roles.
