The news regarding the temporary shutdown of single screens in Telangana has gone viral all over social media. This has stirred a massive discussion among netizens who feel that the obsession with making PAN Indian films has led to this scenario. However, the Telugu Film Producers Council has issued a statement condemning the news being spread online.

The association has made it clear that the owners of a few single-screen theatres in both Telugu states have closed their theatres at their own discretion. The press note issued by TFPC also mentioned that no group of cinema theatre owners or any other association from both Telugu states has given any kind of notice to Apex bodies regarding the closure of cinema halls.

“It is only a few theatre owners who have closed their theatres due to low revenues because of Elections and IPL mania, and it is their individual decision. We are once again clarifying that either Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce, and Telugu Film Producers Council are in no way connected to the closure of theatres,” stated the press note.
