Released yesterday amid high expectations, Naga Chaitanya’s pan-India romantic drama, Thandel, has emerged as the highest opener in his career. Also starring Sai Pallavi in a lead role, the film ran to packed houses at many single screens and multiplexes across the twin Telugu states on Friday.
As per early estimates, Thandel has grossed over Rs 17 crore worldwide on day 1. With the actuals yet to be reported, these numbers may further rise and touch the Rs 20 crore mark. Thandel collected a theatrical share of Rs 12 crore on its opening day. The film also marks Chay’s first-ever double-digit share as a solo lead. The advance bookings for the Saturday and Sunday shows indicate that Thandel is set for more glory in the coming days.
Thandel is a seaside love story set in a fisherman’s village in Srikakulam. Chay and Sai Pallavi’s endearing performances and DSP’s music are the film’s major highlights.
