Back in November 2025, SS Rajamouli unveiled the first glimpse of his upcoming magnum opus titled Varanasi. It stars Mahesh Babu as Rudra in the lead role, Priyanka Chopra as Mandakini, and Prithviraj Sukumaran as Kumba, a smart villain.

The globetrotting film’s teaser looked like nothing seen before, and people are now crazy to watch it on IMAX screens on April 7, 2027. After the launch, Rajamouli met the international media in Hyderabad, and the recorded interviews are now out.

SS Rajamouli, the mastermind behind Varanasi, revealed the answer to one of the most burning questions among the audience in one of the interviews. When the interviewer asked whether there would be a second part to Varanasi, Rajamouli said that in the initial days they briefly considered making it a two-part film. However, they quickly dropped the idea, and it is now a single-part movie with a runtime of around three hours.

So there is now clarity that Varanasi is a one-part film and there will be no other part, as confirmed by Rajamouli in the interview. Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran shared more insights about the film, and their interviews are currently circulating on social media.

The magnum opus, which is being produced on a massive scale with a budget of Rs. 1300 crore, features Prakash Raj in a significant role alongside a Tamil star hero who recently appeared in a Bollywood blockbuster that is now streaming on OTT.

Varanasi is produced by KL Narayana of Sri Durga Arts in collaboration with SS Karthikeya of Showing Business. The music is by Oscar winner MM Keeravani, and the shooting is currently happening. It will be wrapped up soon, and promotions will kick off as planned by SS Rajamouli.
