Superstar Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan is now out in theatres. The action drama directed by TJ Gnanavel opened to mixed reviews. The film’s concept and first half received applause, while critics found issues with the second half. The biggie took a very good opening in Tamil Nadu and Kerala regions.
According to the early estimates, Vettaiyan raked in around Rs. 65-70 crores gross at the worldwide box office on its opening day. Vettaiyan is the second-biggest opener of Kollywood in 2024 after Thalapathy Vijay’s The GOAT. Though Vettaiyan isn’t a typical Rajini film, it took a good opening, thanks to the actor’s stardom.
Given the mixed reviews, it will be interesting to see how the film will perform over the weekend. Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Rithika Singh, and Dusara Vijayan played vital roles. Lyca Productions bankrolled Vettaiyan. Anirudh Ravichander composed the tunes.
