Ahead of the release, we met with Unni Mukundan for a brief interaction. Here is the transcript.

What point made you attracted to Yasoda?

I can’t reveal much about my character now. You will know the exact reason after the film’s release. The reason I gave my nod instantly is due to the story. So let us maintain suspense regarding my role.

How was the working experience with Samantha?

Samantha is a very dedicated and hard-working actress. She prepared a lot for her role. She aced well in action and emotional sequences. She speaks well with other artists in the sets. We used to discuss how to perform our scenes. The working style in Malayalam is different. I used to act directly in front of the camera in Malayalam.

How did the Malayali audience respond to the trailer?

The trailer also got a good response in Malayalam. But, not just in Malayalam, the trailer is received well by all language audiences. Yasoda is a commercial packaged script that attracts everyone. So, I believe people will watch and enjoy the movie in theatres.

How did you feel working with Sivalenka Krishna Prasad who also produced a great film like Aditya 369?

Sivalenka Krishna Prasad Garu is a humble person. I have known a lot about him since I met him personally. He knows everything about the story and supports us in every possible way. He is ready to provide anything to make a good film. Our whole team is thankful to Krishna Prasad Garu. Yasoda has a futuristic idea, depicting how society is moving these days.

As the movie is based on surrogacy, what’s your opinion on this?

It is a subjective thing. People opting for it according to the law won’t have any problem. It is easy to say in words, but it is an emotional journey. We cannot comment on it easily. It is a miracle when we see it from the scientific point of view. We also heard about this topic in our epics.

What are your upcoming films?

I am currently doing two films in Malayalam. I am also doing a PAN Indian film titled Maalikapuram, which will be released in Telugu too.
