Jailer 2: Despite Positive Talk, Telugu Box Office Faces a Slow Start

Rajinikanth is back as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian in Jailer 2. The 75-year-old superstar is creating a buzz in theatres, with fans and movie buffs going gaga over his screen presence. The response to the Tamil version is at a blockbuster level, but the situation is different in the Telugu states.

Despite decent to positive talk, the Telugu version has not seen the expected ticket sales. The reports are decent to positive here as well, but the response is spreading slowly. It remains to be seen whether more people turn up at theatres and collections pick up over the weekend.

Around Rs. 45 crore has been spent on the Telugu distribution rights. If the current pace continues, it may be difficult for the film to reach its break-even point. The situation is reportedly similar in North America.

Nelson Dilipkumar directed the sequel, which is expected to collect around Rs. 120 crore worldwide on its first day. The official figures from Sun Pictures will reveal the actual numbers.
