Superstar Rajinikanth’s previous film Coolie directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, wasn’t up to the mark, but due to the magnanimous hype it collected over Rs. 500 crores gross. Currently, Rajini is busy with the shoot of his upcoming film Jailer 2, the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster directed by Nelson.
Earlier, Rajinikanth himself stated that the biggie will hit the big screens in June 2026. According to the latest buzz, the film might release on August 14, 2026. For the unversed, Jailer was released on the same date in 2023, and it seems the makers are keen on continuing the release date sentiment.
Bollywood actress Vidya Balan is said to be playing a key role, and the shoot is expected to be completed by January 2026. Produced by Sun Pictures, the movie features music by sensational composer Anirudh Ravichander. Shiva Rajkumar and Mohanlal will once again appear in cameos.
