Kannappa, headlined by Vishnu Manchu, hit the big screens last Friday. The movie also features Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, and several other stars. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, who previously helmed the Mahabharat series on Star Plus, this big-budget devotional fantasy has opened to a decent first weekend at the box office.
With a star-studded cast, cinephiles have been curious about the remunerations of the actors involved. According to media reports, Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Sarathkumar acted in the film without charging a single rupee, out of their admiration and respect for veteran actor Mohan Babu.
However, Akshay Kumar is the only star who is said to have charged a remuneration. He reportedly worked for five days and received a hefty paycheck of Rs. 10 crores. Despite being a top star and the role of Lord Shiva having limited screen time, Akshay agreed to come on board without any inhibitions. This appears to be the reason he was granted this special privilege.
