Game Changer (2025) was one of the biggest failures in the careers of Shankar and Ram Charan. Even today, the film’s collection posters continue to be trolled. Director Karthik Subbaraj, who provided the story for the movie, has now revealed some interesting details nearly 20 months after its release.

According to his latest interview, Karthik gave the story to Shankar but did not write the screenplay as he was busy with Mahaan. The Dorothy director said his original story had a completely different setup. It was a grounded Tamil story about an IAS officer trying to reform the political system from within.

He had ‘Newton’ (Hindi film) in mind while writing the story, with action, a Madurai backdrop and local gangster elements involving the protagonist’s friends.

But once Shankar took over the project with a star like Ram Charan and a big budget, the story moved into a much bigger commercial space. However, Karthik said he still felt happy and honoured that a legendary filmmaker like Shankar brought his story to the screen.

Ram Charan fans are now surprised by these revelations. Many may wonder if the original version would have worked better on screen.
