With the postponement of Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, many Tamil films were suddenly announced for a Pongal release. One among them is Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar, which was earlier postponed from December due to financial hurdles.
However, the movie opened on a poor note, earning only Rs. 2 crores gross at the Tamil Nadu box office. This is the lowest opening for Karthi after Thambi. The movie is not showing the desired growth today either, despite the festival holiday.
Vaa Vaathiyaar received mixed reviews, and it appears that the film failed to generate interest among moviegoers. This comes as a surprise, especially since Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi is also heading towards a failure. Vaa Vaathiyaar is directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, with Krithi Shetty playing the female lead.
