Superstar Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, which was released for Sankranthi, opened to mixed reviews, but the actor’s stardom helped the movie big time. The movie, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, featured Sreeleela as the female lead.
The movie has now achieved an all-time record in Sudharshan 35MM theatre, Hyderabad, by becoming the fastest 1 crore grosser. The Mahesh Babu starrer achieved this record in 17 days. Sudharshan 35 MM is generally termed the fort of Superstar, and Guntur Kaaram proved it once again. Overall, this is the seventh film of Mahesh to cross 1 crore in this theatre. The other six films are Murari (1.2 crores), Okkadu (1.47 crores), Athadu (1.04 crores), Pokiri (1.61 crores), Maharshi (1 crore +), and Sarileru Nikevvaru (1.06 crores)
Meenakshii Chaudhary played a cameo. The movie also stars Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishna, Jagapathi Babu, Rao Ramesh, Rahul Ravindran, and Vennela Kishore in pivotal roles. S. Radha Krishna bankrolled Guntur Kaaram under the banner of Haarika and Hassine Creations. SS Thaman composed the tunes.
