Kannada star Yash’s Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas, recently hit theatres to mixed, largely negative reviews. Amid the ongoing discussion, an old remark by veteran producer Allu Aravind about Yash has resurfaced and gone viral on social media. The renewed chatter has now prompted a strong response from Yash’s mother, Pushpa.
The remark came during a promotional event for Kotabommali PS, where Aravind was discussing production budgets and star remunerations. While explaining the impact of scale on a film’s appeal, he asked, “Who was Yash before KGF?” The comment did not go down well with Yash’s fans, who felt it undermined the actor’s stardom before KGF. Responding to it, Pushpa stressed that her son was already a leading star in Karnataka with several successful films to his credit.
Pushpa also highlighted Yash’s humble beginnings, saying his success was built on hard work rather than privilege or generational wealth. She questioned why those from established industry families should feel threatened by a self-made actor and said her family had nothing when Yash began his journey. Standing firmly by her son, she expressed pride in everything he has achieved on his own merit.
