Sai Dharam Tej is busy promoting his latest film Thikka, which is up for a release on Saturday. On this occasion, we caught up with him for a detailed interview. Let’s see what he has to say.
How tensed are you about this film’s release ?
I am very tensed because I play a different character for the first time. I am also quite excited to see how audience responds to my role.
What is your character all about ?
I play a young guy who breaks up with his girlfriend and how this affects things in his daily life.
Looks like the film has heavy influence of alcohol ?
Not exactly, there are scenes where the character gets drunk and behaves in crunch situations. This film will deeply connect to the youth and everyone who had a break up will easily relate to the film.
What attracted you towards this script ?
Firstly, the role was quite challenging and different to start with. I did not play any such character till date and was impressed with the way it was written by Sunil.
So what kind of preparation did you undergo for this role ?
As I have many drunken scenes, I took the help of Tagubothu Ramesh who gave me a few suggestions for my role.
Whose idea was it to make Dhanush and Simbhu sing for Thikka ?
All the credit should go to Thaman. It was his idea and he executed everything by himself.
You are signing back to back films. How do you select a story ?
I do not give much importance to the story and only listen to it as a common audience. Once I feel that the said story line will click with general audience, I say yes to the film.
What kind of competition are you facing from mega family heroes ?
Firstly, there is no competition in mega family. Everybody has their own space and are doing projects according to their caliber.
Heard that your brother will also join movies ?
It is too early to talk about anything. He is busy with his studies as of now.
Tell us about your role in Krishna Vamsi’s next ?
I play a police officer in the film and will be seen for about 20 minutes in the project. I start shooting soon and am quite excited to work with a genius like him.
Upcoming Projects ?
My next film with Gopichand Malineni will soon go on floors.
