Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday claimed that many MLAs of the Congress party were preparing to join the TRS.
Addressing the workers after three MLAs – Jupally Krishna Rao, T Rajaiah, S Satyanarayana – joined the TRS after resigning from the Congress party at the Telangana Bhavan, KCR the Congress party would see more defections in near future. Praising the MLAs who joined the TRS, he said that their decision proves that the TRS was the only party which could bring statehood for the Telangana region.
Asking the Centre not to test the patience of people in the region, the TRS chief requested Congress president Sonia Gandhi to honour the commitment made on December 9, 2009, towards the formation of Telangana State. He questioned the silence of the Central Government despite the protests, strikes, suicide, resignations and now defections. KCR demanded that the Telangana Ministers and MLAs should resign from their posts to mount pressure on the Centre and the State for the grant of Telangana statehood.
The TRS chief alleged that TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and the then chief minister K Rosaiah hatched a conspiracy to ensure that the Centre goes back on its words on Telangana after December 9, 2009. He also alleged that the TDP and Congress have joined hands secretly to prevent the growth of TRS in the region. He channelled Naidu to bring ‘No Confidence Motion’ against Kiran Kumar Reddy Government in the winter session of the Legislative Assembly to prove that he was not having a secret alliance with the Congress party on the Telangana issue. He announced that the TRS would support Naidu’s motion.
KCR reiterated that the Polavaram project was against the interest of Telangana region. He also slammed Chandrababu Naidu for support the project and questioned the silence of Telenagana TDP Forum members on Naidu’s stand. Asking the TDP MLAs from the region to come out of Naidu’s clutches, he advised them to join the Telangana agitation.
He also denied rumours that the TRS would merge with the Congress party. On the other side, he claimed, that the Congress party would merge with the TRS in the Telangana region. He claimed that the TRS would acquire the position of a king maker at the Centre after the next general elections.
Speaking on the occasion, Jupally said that he came out of Congress party after realising that it was against the Telangana state. He hoped that Telangana would be a reality under the leadership of Chandrasekhar Rao.
Ramagundem MLA Satyanarayana said that the Centre has been intentionally delaying the decision on Telangana intentionally and that was the reason why he quit the Congress party. Station Ghanpur MLA Rajaiah said that he joined the TRS party to participate in the Telangana agitation without any bindings.
Earlier, these MLAs had a three-hour long meeting with KCR at his residence. Later, they came in a convoy to the Telangana Bhavan and formalised their joining with the TRS. Senior TRS leaders including Medak MP Vijaya Shanti, MLAs K Taraka Rama Rao, T Harish Rao and others were present. Hundreds of supports of all three MLAs also joined the TRS on this occasion. (INN)
