Arrangements in place for Medaram jatra

The State Government is fully geared up to organize the four-day Medaram Samakka Sarakka jatra starting from February 8. This is the biggest tribal festival in the Eturunagaram mandal in Warangal.

Talking to media persons after releasing the posters of Samakka Sarakka Jatra festival here on Wednesday, Information Technology Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy would participate in the Medaram Jatra as the representative of the State Government. He said that the government has allocated Rs 55 crores for the purpose and asked the RTC, railways, health, sanitation and other departments to make all efforts to make the festival grand success.

Stating that all arrangements would be completed in two days for the jatra, the Minister said the government would acquire land for arrangements and pay compensation to the owners. He said the government was making efforts to provide better facilities for devotees during the jatra.

Responding to the possible changes in his portfolio during the cabinet expansion, he said that it was the prerogative of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. However, he said that the Chief Minister would take final decision on portfolios after consulting the high command. He expressed confidence the Chief Minister would choose efficient candidates and utilize their services for the development of State.

Stating that he was completely satisfied with his portfolio, he said that he would discharge his duties in a responsible manner.

Terming the Partnership Summit-2012 a `big success,’ he said the Telangana region has received 43 proposals from Centre for establishment of industries. He said the State has received major proposals for establishment of industries in IT and tourism and hospitality sector. (INN)
