Congress MP S Rajaiah on Tuesday demanded that the State Government declare Warangal district as drought-affected and take all steps for the welfare of farmers.
Talking to media persons at his residence, Rajaiah said that the farmers in the district were in a fix as crops are withering due to frequent power cuts. “The farmers are in a pathetic condition as no one from the government came to their rescue or to redress their woes” he stated.
Rajaiah said that the employees, who agitated for Telangana statehood for 42 days in the region, have made elected representatives active in resolving the issue. Taking inspiration from the employees strike, he said that the people’s representatives would continue their efforts towards achieving separate statehood fulfilling the aspirations of the people in this region.
Though the employees have withdrawn from the general strike, the elected representatives from the region would continue their efforts with commitment towards achieving Telangana State, he claimed. He slammed the Telangana Ministers for holding to their posts and not responding when the MPs were arrested in connection with the Rail Roko agitation.
Rajaiah also announced that all elected representatives in the region would observe November 1, the State Formation Day as `Betrayal Day’ and boycott the celebrations by hoisting black flags. (INN)
